French Food & Friends

The cocktail party I was supposed to attend last night was randomly canceled last minute, and so some of my friends and I decided to go out to dinner at a great French restaurant in our town, the Left Bank.

It is down the stree from our high school, and it used to be our "fancy" restaurant when we were kids. We'd go there for each other's birthdays, and sometimes we would stop in on rainy afternoons just to get a side of French fries.

Now that were older we usually order some champagne cocktails, but we still always get some French fries or fondue, too :)

Since it was a fairly last minute plan, and not really a crazy night out, I wore this bright pink long sleeved shirt from JCrew. I've had it for a few years, and it is definitely a holiday staple for me.  I paired it with my navy blue double breasted blazer (also JCrew), black skinnies (shocking that if wear those, I know), and my leopard smoking flats from Target. I was a little bummed that I didn't get to wear my new heels out, but I'll just have to find another fun occasion for them!

Until next time,

Cat Saturday

It was cold again today... No surprise there. I didn't feel like wearing a pea coat or a Barbour jacket again, so I slipped on this Vince sweater. It is nice and thick black wool, and then it shocks you with black leather sleeves, which gives it an unexpectedly glam vibe. The tshirt is silk leopard print from Equipment. I love the idea of silk tshirts - it's such a great juxtaposition. Plus I have such a weakness for leopard print! Speaking of juxtaposition, pairing two rock and roll pieces with simple skinny jeans was an interesting combination. Three classic elements - leather, leopard, and denim - coming together to make a fun and casual weekend look.

My bronze metallic Tory Burch flats were a good middle point between the black of the jacket and the tans of the leopard. Plus, they're such a good basic flat that are simple enough not to compete with such loud pieces.

Until next time,

Feelin' Punky

Jacket: Joie; Shirt: Alice and Olivia; Necklace: Kate Spade; Skirt: Kate Spade; Shoes: Joie

Last night I went out in San Francisco with some friends, and took the opportunity to wear this Kate Spade skirt I bought about a month ago - I saw it and had to have it! I mean it is leopard print, which after bows is one of my biggest weaknesses. Paired with my leather jacket and dark lip, I felt pretty punk rock.

I paired the outfit with this cool pyramid stud embellished collar necklace. I got it for my birthday and have been waiting for a chance to wear it. My dark lip is not from a lipstick but actually a lip stain from Stila - it was great because I didn't have to reapply that much throughout the night. However, it was also still on when I woke up in the morning!

Bag: Kate Spade

My bow cross body made another appearance...

And I finished off with these suede wedge booties. I love these shoes for going out! One of my guy friends hates booties because they make girls look like the "have hooves," but that's silly and I keep wearing them anyway.

Until next time,

Cat Burglar

If I were a cat burglar, a la Anne Hathaway in The Dark Knight Rises, this is what I would wear:

Sweater: Equipment; Pants: JCrew
I felt so sleek and cool today! I bought this leopard print Equipment sweater a few months ago after I had waited a solid month for it to end up in stores. I paired it with my JCrew Minnie pants, which are completely amazing in that they're comfortable and stylish and appropriate for work.

Watch: Michael Kors
Seriously, I walked outside my house and felt like Audrey Hepburn playing the role of a cat burglar.

Shoes: Kate Spade (old)
I paired the two with these cap toe Kate Spade flats.  I bought them a few years ago because I thought they were a perfect work and play shoe... and they're tan with black, which goes with essentially everything in my wardrobe.

Earrings: Kate Spade
I also decided to wear these new Kate Spade earrings I recently bought.  I love that they're bows, but also that they're a little edgier with their streamlined lines a pyramid stud in the center.

I thought I'd finish with a close-up of the front of the sweater... yep it's only leopard on the front! The sleeves and back and finely knit wool, and the front is leopard print silk. Seriously THE softest silk. Equipment is such a great company, as they sell classic button-ups and funner, trendier pieces like this one, but everything is absolutely amazing quality. I also just love leopard print for the fall.  It goes perfectly with richer, fall appropriate jewel tones like burgundy, and also adds a little spice to more traditional pieces like riding boots. So try out a sweater or a scarf!

Until next time,

A Sunday Walk

There was such gorgeous weather this weekend in Washington, so Matt and I took advantage of it and walked just about everywhere. Like a lot of places, weather in Western Washington changes a lot through a typical fall day,  starting out chilly and then getting warmer as the day goes on. As a result, layering becomes super important!
Jacket: JCrew; Sweater: Vince; Jeans: JBrand; Shoes: Target; Bag: Kate Spade; Glasses: Jimmy Choo
This is one of my favorite lightweight jackets to wear during the fall. I bought it a few years ago at the JCrew factory store on a bit of a whim and was surprised by how versatile it is! I usually  just wear it with jeans and a sweater or a shirt like this, but it also looks cute with a dress and boots.  I definitely love it the most with navy and blue stripes like this though!

Shoes: Target (old)
These flats were such an amazing buy. I got them at Target last year and have work them non stop since then. I've even been asked if they are Jimmy Choos before!

Bracelet: Tory Burch (old); Watch: Michael Kors
And, last but not least, my least girly stacked wrist to date.

Until next time,
Xo
