This past Sunday I got a little retro for church. I wore my favorite new pants, these Jackie capris from Kate Spade. They have such a comfortable fit, and I love the prints! I think I will have to get this month's floral version, too. I love how I can pair them with a simple button up and a cardigan and be polished and ready to go, which isn't always the case with pants! For last Sunday, with my ballet flats and high pony, though, I felt just like Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday. All I need now is a crown and a Vespa :)

LL Bean Boat and Tote

LL Bean boat and tote bags are, in my opinion, the perfect summertime staple. I have had one in almost every size over the years, and they have taken me from swim meets to beach days and back, all while fitting everything I could ever need. These days, I mostly use mine to lug things to and from the farmers market (and the beach when I can get there!) and I still can get everything I need and then some inside. Plus, paired with other summer staples like a seersucker Lilly skort and a JCrew Jackie cardigan, it's a can't miss :)

All American Girl

Happy 4th of July, y'all! I love any holiday where I get to dress up, and 4th of July is big for that! My boyfriends family has a traditional competition every year where whoever is most decked out in red white and blue wins, so naturally I have a plethora of patriotic gear to choose from. This year, with Matt deployed, I headed down to the waterfront a few blocks from my house and enjoyed some good all American food and beautiful weather. But it just wouldn't be Fourth of July without my own girly take on red white and blue. How cute is this Kate Spade peplum top? I love the bow detail. And, the icing on the cake, my shorts glow in the dark! That Lilly Pulitzer just thinks of everything :)

Earning Your Stripes

Growing up playing sports gave me a lot of great skills: determination, a competitive spirit, and a good work ethic, to name a few. What it did not give me was a waist. I am pretty much straight up and down, aka what People Style Watch likes to call a "boyish" or "athletic" body type. As a result, I love anything that creates the illusion of a waist, and number one on that list is a-line skirts like this super cute striped number. I paired it with one of my favorite basics, my navy Houston blouse from lilly, and punched things up with some girly Kate Spade accessories.

T-Shirt Dress

We've had a bit of a heat wave here lately, which is a welcome relief from the dreary weather we had past week. I finally got to wear this little t-shirt dress that I bought at Target a few weeks ago. I love simple pieces like this, they transition so well from summer to fall, or day to night. I paired it with gold accents and my trusty Panama hat (ok, one of several Panama hats...) to run around town in the  heat (to be fair, 88 degrees is a heat wave here, which used to just be summer to me but I guess I'm not used to it anymore!).

Sunshine and Ponytails

This was seriously my uniform last summer. This dress from Rebecca Taylor is so comfy (god bless stretch ponte knit!) and I love how the zipper detail in the front gives a kind of edgy vibe to an otherwise basic sundress. Living on the coast = I always have to bring a jacket with me, so my jean jacket basically never leaves my side, plus I think it looks great with sundresses like this one!

I wore this outfit to church last weekend, but I've been wearing this scarf mom stop since I bought it! It goes perfectly with my navy Houston top from lilly, which is honestly one of the most perfect basics a closet could have. I've been mixing up the top and scarf with shorts and skinnies, too, but I love wide leg jeans so much! Paired with wedges they make me feel like I have super model legs :)
